Amanda
Blackburn and I will again be starting a new session of our “Finding Your
Voice” women’s group, beginning August 28th, 2012. We
have changed the time of the group to 5:30-7 weekly on Tuesdays. Also,
we’ve changed the format of the group to an “open” group.
This means that any client or women you know who you think could benefit would
be able to join the group at any time, not just on Aug. 28th! The
group will be ongoing, so it will also be up to every individual group
participant to decide when the goals they have had for group have been met.
Finding Your Voice is for women who feel they’re not
able to be their true selves because of…
-trying to meet everyone else’s needs
-meeting others’ expectations
-trying to impress others with
accomplishments/appearance/selflessness
-past trauma that makes it difficult to trust others (sexual,
physical, emotional abuse)
-being intimidated by interpersonal relationships
-shame at who they fear their true self is (no-good, selfish,
bad, ugly)
-the walls they’ve erected to keep themselves safe
