Help Flooding By Preparing Cleaning Buckets



Cleaning Buckets
Chattanooga District churches are asked to prepare cleaning buckets to aid persons who suffer damage due to flooding. Several buckets are available in the district office, or you may use a clean five gallon bucket with a resealable lid. Do not use buckets that have stored chemicals such as paint or pool cleaner.  The list of contents is available in the district office.

Fall Lay Speaker (Servant) Training



Fall Lay Speaker Training
The dates of October 12 and 13 have been set for the fall Lay Speaker Training to be held at Brainerd UMC. Both the Basic and Advanced Courses will be taught. Classes begin on Friday evening at 6:30 till 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. and adjourn at 4:30 p.m. To complete the course, both sessions are required.

The Reverend Reece Fauscett will teach the Basic Course. The Advanced Courses, “Start Here will be taught by Lisa Black and Transformational Evangelism will be taught by Becky Hall.

Pastors have received registration forms, or they are available in the District Office. The cost is $30 and includes curriculum and lunch on

UMVIM TEAM LEADER TRAINING: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2012

Who Should Attend: UMVIM Team Leaders needing this training and any person interested in leading a mission team on a trip

A United Methodist Volunteer in Mission (UMVIM) Team Leader Training will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Trinity Center Fellowship Hall, 320 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Please bring a sack lunch.

This course provides you with the tools you will need to lead a mission team from your congregation on a successful mission trip either within the USA or throughout the world. The cost of the course is $25, which is the cost of the Team Leader Handbook you will receive at the UMVIM Team Leader Training.  Please register so that sufficient materials will be available.

Camp Lookout Benefit Golf Tournament

Camp Lookout will be hosting a Benefit golf tournament on Saturday, October 6 at the Bear Trace at Harrison Bay.  Tee time is 8am.  Looking for teams of 4, individual golfers and sponsors.  For more information Contact Camp Lookout (706) 820-1163.

Outreach Opportunity

We have a request for “snacks” (small bags of chips, bottled water, sodas, granola bars, fruit bars) to be used by the Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinic that will be at Camp Jordan in East Ridge on September 22-23. This clinic provides free dental cleanings, fillings and extractions, free eye exams and eye glasses (as needed) and free general medical and women’s health services. Mike Hubble (our district superintendent) is familiar with the work of this service and says they do great work.
 
If you can provide any of the items requested, please bring them to Mark by September 19.

As the New Hiwassee Golf Coach I am asking for your Help! The golf team is holding a Golf Tournament on Sunday, October 21st at Three Ridges Golf Course in Knoxville , TN. All Proceeds will Benefit The Tigers Men’s & Women’s Golf Program. I have attached the flyer of all the details and cost. Please print out or pass on to anyone that you know that plays golf.
